Confinia Cephalalgica, a peer-reviewed open access journal, focuses on publishing articles related to various aspects of headache medicine, including genetics, pathophysiology, diagnosis, imaging, management, epidemiology, pharmacology, and treatment. It covers both primary and secondary headaches, as well as other facial pains and their connections with systemic diseases. Confinia Cephalalgica highlights the historical context of scientific advancements in headache medicine, particularly the recent innovative investigations and their impact on migraine treatment. The journal aims to stay updated with rapidly evolving areas of medicine, such as digital health, gender medicine, and artificial intelligence, as applied to the field of headache medicine. The journal publishes quarterly issues containing various types of articles, including original and review articles, case reports, short communications, letters to the editor, and news items as "pros and cons" articles discussing controversial basic and clinical issues.

Confinia Cephalalgica is the official journal of the Italian Society for the Study of Headaches (SISC) with the overarching goal to serve as a forum for scientists and clinicians dedicated to headache medicine.

Enrico Greppi Award for the Innovation in Headache Medicine

Announcement of the Enrico Greppi Award for the Innovation in Headache Medicine | Download the Call for Papers

The Italian Society for the Study of Headache (Società Italiana per lo Studio delle Cefalee - SISC) is happy to announce the launch of the 26th Edition of the ‘Enrico Greppi Award - EGA’ to acknowledge outstanding clinical or basic science contributions in the field of headaches.

Papers eligible for the EGA must be submitted for publication to Confinia Cephalalgica between June 20, 2026, and September 15, 2026, with the indication in the cover letter that the paper is competing for the EGA.

The Enrico Greppi Award - EGA will be granted to the first-place paper. The first author of the winning paper (who must be 40 years old or younger) will be awarded € 2,000.00 and will be invited to present the paper at the 40th SISC Annual Congress, which will be held in Lecce, Italy (November 5-7, 2026).
